MELB.EST (Melbest) is a free, independent guide to unusual places and things to do in Melbourne and surrounding Victoria. Priyanshu Jain created it as a personal project, bringing together city records, overlooked discoveries and ideas for a day out.

The name comes from Melbourne’s “-est” stories: oldest, smallest, tallest, and the many other things that make a place worth a detour.

Find a place. Make a day of it.

The directory covers cafés, food, architecture, nature, culture and more. Sort my outing suggests a curated city wander or regional escape using your starting area, transport, time and preferences. You can reveal surprise stops and send a fixed plan to friends.

Your Melbourne passport keeps saved places and self-reported visits. Its exploration score measures progress through this collection, rather than how much of Melbourne you have seen.

The story behind each claim.

Place pages link to their sources and distinguish documented facts, attributed claims, award rankings and editorial picks. “Best” is subjective. A shortlist or award does not establish a universal winner. Opening hours, travel conditions and closures still need checking before you leave.
